American Pacific International School (APIS) was Chiangmai's first internationally-accredited boarding school when it was established in 1997. APIS provides a boarding program for students from the age of six years through to graduation in Grade 12.
Ours is a caring international community that nurtures a love of learning and life-long inquiry.
APIS provides an inspiring academic and student life curriculum, where international diversity and our host culture are celebrated. We believe in developing our students self-esteem and encouraging healthy, ethical lifestyles.
American Pacific International School is accredited by WASC (the Western Association of Schools and Colleges) and is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to deliver its Primary Years' Programme (IBO-PYP) from Kindergarten through to Grade 5.
The Middle School Program is derived from similar programs in the United States and forms a bridge between PYP in the Elementary School and the High School diploma to which students work in Grades 9-12. A range of Advanced Placement courses are also offered.
The APIS curriculum is designed to produce graduates who are inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring,risk-takers, balanced, and reflective individuals.
An outstanding place for living and learning
** KINDERGARTEN **
An International Learning Environment
American Pacific International School is the only international school offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IBPYP) within the city of Chiang mai. The PYP is regarded as the best primary years program in the world. It is introduced in Kindergarten 1 when students are 3 years old.
APIS is well located near many of the residential areas to the south of Chiang mai's city. The Kindergarten buildings are well-equipped and designed to meet the needs of our youngest learners. The facilities are second to none, with a library tailored to encourage young readers, a swimming pool, wonderful play areas and stimulating classrooms.
At the end of grade 1 our students really look forward to the move up to the Main Boarding Campus where they continue they complete the PYP program in Grade 5.
We believe that student success at school is fostered through strong home-school partnerships, parental involvement and support of their child’s education. We encourage all parents to attend school events throughout the year and be part of the wider APIS community.
Our program begins with nursery students at the age of 2 years old. Our nursery students follow a preparatory program that focuses on socialization and development of early childhood skills through constructive play activities.
The Elementary School faculty is experienced and committed to providing a world-class education for the students at APIS. Our internationally qualified educators provide a warm and welcoming environment where children develop a love of learning. Class sizes are small in order each child’s individual learning needs are well catered for.
** RESIDENTIAL LIFE **
APIS SCHOOL LIFE
The Residential Life Program develops and enhances these skills by assisting students in taking on leadership roles; becoming self-managing of homework, housework, and free time; developing an aptitude for effective communication; making decisions that reflect well-considered choices and consequences; as well as demonstrating skills necessary for group living including manners, patience, cooperation, tidiness of personal space, and respect for the personal space of others.
