Using the Four Worlds, the Emotional Rooms and the Information Processing Models, John takes you through six amazing hours of learning about how the human brain best works in classrooms. Delegates will examine how to create the conditions that optimise students’ engagement in classroom learning. Stunning images, relevant anecdotes, discussion time, modelling and extensive notes make this a most memorable workshop.
Content Includes:
• Weighted Elements: why some students do better at school than others
• The Four Worlds: identifying individual talents and strengths, growing quality lives
• The Emotional Rooms Model: critical and creative thinking, enquiry, managing emotions
• The effects of allostasis, stress, boredom and enrichment on brains: creating the ideal

• Building student Motivation and Confidence: creating the conditions for superstar
learners!
• Mind Your Brain Program: inspiring ways to teach students about brain care, memory and
learning
• The critical role of sleep in learning: brain care for optimal learning and behaviour
• Information Processing Model: ways to teach using explicit levels of memory and stages
of learning
• Learning and career profiling: building independent learners and fulfilling career
aspirations
• Teaching students to be active participants in their own learning and further education
Session times Friday 11th November:
Arrival: 8:30am until 9:00am - Tea and Coffee
Session 1: 9:00am
Recess Break: 10:30 until 11:00am
Session 2: 11:00am until 1:00 pm
Lunch; 1:00pm until 2:00 pm
Session 3: 2:00pm until 3:30pm
Reception: Light snacks and refreshments

Location:
American Pacific International School (APIS) and Suan Bua Resort are located 20 km South West of Chiang mai international airport. Guests from outside Thailand are recommended to fly to Chiang mai the night before. Guests may stay at the Suan Bua Resort (http://www.suanbua.com). There is an Air Asia flight from Bangkok that gets to Chiang mai at 8:00am. APIS would be able to make arrangements to collect you from the airport.
Costs
Participants from EARCOS member schools outside of the Chiang mai international schools network will be charged 1000 Thai baht ($30.00 USD) for the day.
