1. House Parent/Residential Advisor


Senior Boarding House-House Parent/ Residential Advisor (Years 9 - 12) 1 position


A Senior Residential House Sstaff  positions is available at American Pacific International Schoo (APIS, Chiang mai.  It would be desirable the applicants were eligible for registration or be registered  as a teacher with a national or state board.
This would be an ideal position for a person seeking a gap year after university,  or an intern wanting to do online study and live and work in an educational setting. Also an experienced, energetic and enthusiastic  person wanting to live and work in Thailand.  The position is live-in and requires supervision and management of boarding activities of the students.  Preferred applicants will have a good command of English and be positive, enthusiastic people wishing to contribute and be part of a committed residential team.
Accommodation is available in 1 bedroom flats within each boarding house or an adjacent house  for a married couple or young family.  
It may be possible to combine some teaching with boarding house duties


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


•    Be available for after hours and weekend duty as required. During term time there are up to 40hours/week of student care involving interaction in academic and relaxation activities  along with assisting in  both leisure and community service activities.  Residential personnel  can expect 1 weekend in 3 off duty.
•    Work closely with other House parents, from time-to-time sharing the responsibility of students and staff from other Boarding Houses
•    Work cooperatively with other Boarding Staff to contribute to the overall care, control and development of the Boarding School
•    Assist and supervise with learning activities of students

Boarding house staff have schedules opposite to most - we work with the students from 7am- 9am, 3pm to 11pm and weekends.  Our free time is generally during the day, though there will be a some paper work to fill out and meetings to attend.  Shifts are spaced out so that you have at least one full day off duty during a week and one full weekend (Friday night, Saturday, Sunday) off every three weeks. Residential staff also rotate overnight shifts.  On their overnight shifts, they must be in the residence and available.  In the dorms particularly, there are occasionally late nights monitoring the students.


APIS Camp’s


Information: The American Pacific International School (APIS) is very successful in conducting school camps during the school vacation periods. APIS usually has two camps during the year a Spring camp (25th March-12 April 2012) and Summer camp (24th June-1th July 2012).  The Spring camp has a focus on English language Learning and the Summer camp is geared towards activities.  Both camps make the most of the facilities and activities available in the Chiang mai region.  We are looking for a Camp Director for both camps but would be interested in applicants that wished to focus on either the Spring or Summer camp.  The position would suit a person that likes outdoor activities and enjoys being engaged in teaching and learning with children.

Qualifications:


College degree or equivalent within education, counseling, coaching or related field

Administration experience desirable


o      Experience with ELL clientele
o      Collaboration and communication skills
o     A salary commensurate with experience and qualifications is provided.  A bonus payment may also be available.

 Teacher Assistant (1 position- tentative)


Description of Duties and Responsibilities: Teacher Assistant works with the expatriate teacher in the classroom to encourage student’s participation and to promote their cognitive and social development.


Qualifications:


         The persons we seek to employ have the following qualifications:


o    Thai nationality
o    Ability  to manage students in Elementary grades)
o    Teaching qualification desirable
o    Has VERY strong English language ability.
