APIS uses Moodle to extend learning with and through technology. There are many benefits of placing content and Web 2.0 interaction in a safe and educational environment:
- Provide anytime, anywhere access to course expectations, work, homework, and due-dates
- Students can continue to participate in the course while sick or in another country
- Online discussions become student-centered
- ESL students have an opportunity to process and respond at their own pacing
- Assignment of work and the submission of work becomes transparent and downloads responsibility onto the student
- Discussions can be focused on the topic and not on other bias factors
- Students have a measure of control over their learning
- Students can view others’ work
- Students can work in collaborative projects
- Extends the school day into the evening and weekends
- Students can control the speed of their learning
Besides all of these reasons, the use of technology helps students engage with content in new and exciting ways!
